ExCeL London parking, drop-off and chauffeur access guide
ExCeL London's on-site car park charges £27.50 per calendar day pre-booked or £30 on the day. There is no hourly rate. A one-hour visit costs the same as a 23-hour stay. The car park has 1,867 spaces across three colour-coded zones with a 1.9m height limit in the standard area. The single passenger drop-off point is at the West Taxi Rank, postcode E16 1XL. The car park entrance is on Sandstone Lane, postcode E16 1FR. These are different locations. This guide covers parking costs, drop-off logistics, driving routes from Heathrow and London City Airport, public transport options, and the chauffeur alternative for conference delegates and exhibition visitors.
ExCeL London parking costs in 2026
Pre-booked: £27.50 per calendar day. Book at least 12 hours ahead at excellondon.aeroparker.com. On the day: £30 per calendar day. Coach and minibus: £50 per day (pre-book only). Blue Badge holders pay the same standard rate. There is no free disabled parking. Motorcycle parking is free with no pre-booking required. Multi-entry within the booked period is included. Many websites still quote £20 or £25 for ExCeL parking. Those figures are out of date.
The car park is divided into three colour-coded zones. Pink (West) is closest to the West Entrance and Platinum Suite. Yellow (East) is closest to the ICC and East Entrance. Blue (Waterfront) is closest to Halls 1 to 6 and Immerse LDN. Parking in the wrong zone means a 600m walk along the Boulevard once inside. An overheight section (1.9m to 2.8m) is accessed via a separate Sandstone Lane entrance with limited spaces and pre-booking required. The current Range Rover at approximately 1.87m fits the standard area. Roof rails or raised air suspension may require overheight.
Payment is by card, contactless, Apple Pay or Google Pay. No cash is accepted. The car park operates 24/7 with ANPR barriers. There are 134 Blue Badge bays distributed across all zones. There is no EV charging in the venue car park as of 2026. ExCeL states charging points are under review. The nearest public EV charging is at the DoubleTree by Hilton ExCeL (Pod Point, four devices, 5-minute walk east).
Drop-off and pick-up at ExCeL
The only passenger drop-off point is the West Taxi Rank at E16 1XL on Western Gateway. All car, taxi, Uber, Bolt and chauffeur drop-offs happen here. The West Entrance glass-pyramid frontage is directly adjacent. Custom House station (Elizabeth Line and DLR) is 200 metres away. Black cabs, ride-hails and chauffeurs pull up on the forecourt.
E16 1FR is the car park entrance on Sandstone Lane, not a drop-off point. Some event organisers publish E16 1FR as a taxi drop-off. This is incorrect per ExCeL's own guidance and routes vehicles into the underground car park approach road rather than the passenger forecourt. If your sat-nav takes you to Sandstone Lane when you want to be dropped off, you are at the wrong entrance.
ExCeL enforces a strict no-idle policy at the West Taxi Rank. Adjacent residential buildings and a nursery sit directly behind the rank. Chauffeurs and drivers must turn off engines while waiting. Traffic marshals enforce this during major events. For a chauffeur service, the driver drops at the entrance, moves to a waiting point on Tidal Basin Road or Connaught Road, and returns on a phone call.
Driving to ExCeL from Heathrow, London City and central London
From Heathrow (the most common international arrival point). Route: M4 east, then A406 North Circular, then A13, then A1020 Royal Albert Way to the ExCeL roundabout. Distance: approximately 24 miles. Time: 50 to 60 minutes off-peak, 75 to 110 minutes peak. This route avoids the Congestion Charge zone entirely. Premium Transfers' Hayes base is 4 miles from Heathrow, making chauffeur dispatch to any terminal a 10 to 15 minute operation.
From London City Airport (the fastest connection). LCY is 1.75 miles from ExCeL via Connaught Bridge. Chauffeur time: 5 to 10 minutes off-peak, 12 to 15 minutes peak. For European delegates flying BA CityFlyer from Edinburgh, KLM from Amsterdam, SWISS from Zurich or Air Dolomiti from Frankfurt, this is the fastest airport-to-venue connection in London. The chauffeur advantage over the DLR is luggage handling and no change at Canning Town.
From central London hotels. Mayfair and the West End to ExCeL: 30 to 35 minutes off-peak, 50 to 65 minutes peak (9 miles via Embankment and A13, Congestion Charge zone payable at £18 per day since January 2026). The City (The Ned, Shangri-La at The Shard): 20 to 25 minutes off-peak via Limehouse Link (toll-free). Canary Wharf: 6 to 10 minutes off-peak (2 miles via A1261 Aspen Way).
The Silvertown Tunnel opened 7 April 2025. This 1.4km Thames crossing connects Greenwich Peninsula to Silvertown, directly adjacent to ExCeL's access roads. It has changed routing from south of the Thames. Gatwick delegates can now reach ExCeL via M25, A2 and Silvertown Tunnel northbound in 60 to 70 minutes off-peak. Toll: £1.50 off-peak, £4.00 peak for cars with TfL Auto Pay. The Blackwall Tunnel is now also tolled at the same rate. Free crossings apply between 10pm and 6am and on Christmas Day.
ExCeL is outside the Congestion Charge zone but inside ULEZ. The CCZ ends at Tower Hill, well west of E16. Routes via A406 North Circular and A13 avoid the CCZ entirely. ULEZ applies across all of Greater London at £12.50 per day for non-compliant vehicles. All current Mercedes S-Class, V-Class, Range Rover and Rolls-Royce models are ULEZ compliant.
ExCeL vs chauffeur: the full-day cost comparison
Self-driving to ExCeL for a conference day costs more than the parking ticket alone. Parking: £27.50 to £30. Congestion Charge (if driving from central London): £18. Silvertown or Blackwall Tunnel toll (if arriving from south): £1.50 to £4.00. Fuel (24-mile round trip from Heathrow): approximately £8 to £12. Total self-drive cost from central London: £55 to £64 per day before adding car park queues of 30 to 60 minutes during peak events and a potential 600m walk through the venue from the wrong parking zone.
A chauffeur absorbs all of these costs inside a single quoted rate. The driver handles ULEZ compliance, CCZ payment, tunnel tolls and parking. The delegate walks from hotel lobby to vehicle to ExCeL entrance in two steps. For a group of two to four colleagues sharing an S-Class or V-Class, the per-person cost approaches the self-drive total. For a week-long conference, a daily chauffeur with the same driver builds schedule familiarity. Corporate accounts receive a single consolidated invoice per event rather than a stack of taxi receipts and parking charges for expense reconciliation.
During peak events at ExCeL (MCM Comic Con at 100,000+ visitors, London Marathon Running Show at 170,000+), the single-entrance car park on Sandstone Lane backs up significantly. Online reviews from BETT and Grand Designs Live consistently report 30 to 60 minute queues at the barrier. A chauffeur drops at Western Gateway, bypassing the car park entirely. The vehicle parks off-site or waits on Connaught Road. The delegate loses zero minutes to queuing.
Public transport to ExCeL (and when it wins)
The Elizabeth Line is the best public transport option and is genuinely competitive. Custom House station is 200 metres from the West Entrance. Direct from Heathrow: 48 to 55 minutes with no change. Direct from Bond Street: 17 minutes. Direct from Canary Wharf: 5 minutes (one stop). Liverpool Street: 10 to 11 minutes. Single fare approximately £2 to £14 depending on origin. Custom House is also served by the DLR (Beckton branch). Prince Regent DLR is 200 metres from the East Entrance and ICC.
Public transport wins on solo journeys under 30 minutes during normal hours. A single delegate travelling from Bank to ExCeL at 9am for a one-day visit should take the Elizabeth Line. It costs approximately £2.40 and takes 12 minutes.
A chauffeur wins when the delegate has luggage or conference materials, when the group is two or more people, when the journey starts or ends at a hotel not on the Elizabeth Line (Kensington, Knightsbridge, Chelsea), when the schedule includes an evening gala dinner at a venue like Tate Modern, or when the delegate is a senior partner whose billable hour exceeds the cost of the transfer. The London Cable Car from the O2 is a tourist attraction, not a practical transport connection. The 10-minute crossing plus 10-minute walk to the West Entrance is slower than the DLR.
INTA Annual Meeting 2026 at ExCeL (2 to 6 May)
The INTA 2026 Annual Meeting runs 2 to 6 May at ExCeL London, bringing approximately 10,000 trademark attorneys, brand owners and IP professionals from over 100 jurisdictions. This is INTA's return to London for the first time in approximately 25 years, coinciding with 150 years since the first modern trademark was registered in London in 1876. Registration fees range from $1,725 (member early bird) to $4,425 (non-member onsite). The programme spans 60+ educational sessions, the Innovation Marketplace exhibition, and networking events across London. The opening keynote is Dame Anya Hindmarch DBE on Sunday 3 May.
The INTA Grand Finale gala is confirmed at Tate Modern. Registrant-only, wristband access collected at ExCeL. Tate Modern is 25 to 30 minutes from ExCeL by car via the A13 and Southwark Bridge Road. No INTA shuttle has been announced for 2026. Delegates at ExCeL-adjacent hotels face a DLR-to-Jubilee-to-Southwark journey of 35 to 45 minutes each way. A chauffeur covers the same route in 25 minutes with a direct return to the hotel after the event.
INTA overlaps with Grand Designs Live (1 to 4 May) at ExCeL, creating higher hotel demand and car park pressure across the opening weekend. INTA's official housing block (managed by bnetwork) spans 29 April to 9 May across multiple London hotels including the Aloft ExCeL, Courtyard by Marriott London City Airport, and The Dilly in Piccadilly. No INTA shuttle bus has been announced for 2026, meaning delegates rely on the Elizabeth Line, DLR, taxis or chauffeurs. Delegates arriving via London City Airport (BA CityFlyer from Edinburgh, KLM from Amsterdam) benefit from the 5-minute LCY-to-ExCeL chauffeur connection. For delegates combining INTA with London Craft Week (11 to 17 May, also in London), see our London Craft Week chauffeur guide.
Major events at ExCeL in 2026
ExCeL hosts approximately 400 events per year, attracting 4 million visitors. The £220 million Phase 3 expansion completed in October 2024 added 25,000 sqm, bringing total event space to 125,000 sqm. The venue is owned by ADNEC Group (Abu Dhabi). Confirmed 2026 events with significant attendance include BETT (35,000+, January), the London Marathon Running Show (170,000+, April), Grand Designs Live (80,000+, May), INTA (10,000+, May), MCM Comic Con (100,000+, May and October), Infosecurity Europe (13,000+, June), and World Travel Market (46,000+, November).
Two events previously at ExCeL are no longer held there. ICE London (gaming) moved to Barcelona in 2025 on a five-year contract. The London Boat Show was cancelled after its 2018 edition. DSEI (defence) is biennial; the next edition is September 2027.
